Privacy Policy
How Preset. handles information.
Last updated: 14 March 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Preset. and its related website, iPhone app, Messages extension, support channels, and paid features handle information. Preset. is operated by Jacob Lanning in Queensland, Australia.
Scope
This policy applies to the Preset. website, the Preset. mobile app and Messages extension, customer support communications, and any paid features, subscriptions, or purchases we may offer in the future.
Information collected in the current app
Based on the current codebase, Preset. is designed to keep your template content on your device. The app currently stores information such as:
- saved message templates and draft content
- categories, saved field suggestions, favourites, and recents
- timestamps such as when a template was updated or last used
In the current version, this information is stored locally in app storage and shared app-group storage so the iPhone app and Messages extension can access the same content. It is not automatically transmitted to us by the current version of the app.
Website and technical information
The website is a lightweight informational site. It does not currently use advertising pixels, behavioural profiling, or analytics cookies. Like most websites, however, our hosting and infrastructure providers may automatically process limited technical data to deliver, maintain, and secure the site, such as IP address, browser and device details, request logs, and access timestamps.
Support communications
If you contact us by email or otherwise request support, we may collect and use the information you provide, including your name, email address, message contents, attachments, and any details you choose to share about your issue.
Payments and purchase information
Paid features are not implemented in the current inspected codebase, but this policy is intended to cover them when they are introduced. If you buy a subscription or other paid feature in the future, we currently intend for those purchases to be processed through Apple's App Store using Apple's in-app purchase systems rather than through website card checkout.
- Apple may collect billing details, tax information, and fraud-prevention data under its own terms and privacy policies.
- We may receive limited transaction details such as your product, renewal status, storefront or country, and transaction identifiers.
- The website does not currently process direct card payments for app purchases.
How information is used
We may use information we handle to:
- operate, secure, maintain, and improve the website, app, and support experience
- respond to support requests, bug reports, and account or billing questions
- process purchases, manage subscriptions, send receipts, and handle payment-related issues
- prevent abuse, spam, fraud, security incidents, and unlawful activity
- comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our terms
Legal bases where required
Some privacy laws, including the GDPR and UK GDPR, require us to explain the legal bases we rely on when processing personal data. Where those laws apply, we generally rely on one or more of the following bases, depending on the context: performance of a contract with you, compliance with a legal obligation, our legitimate interests in operating and securing Preset., and your consent where consent is required.
Cookies and similar technologies
The website does not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy and, where required, request consent before using non-essential cookies or similar tracking technologies.
When information is shared
We may share information with:
- service providers that help with hosting, email, customer support, payments, fraud prevention, or security
- Apple and related app store services where purchases, renewals, refunds, subscription management, or support require it
- professional advisers, regulators, courts, law enforcement, or other parties where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights and safety
- a buyer, investor, or successor in connection with a merger, financing, sale, or transfer of all or part of the business
International handling
Some providers we use for hosting, email, app distribution, support, or payments may process information outside Australia, including in countries where those providers or their sub-processors operate. Where required, we will take reasonable steps to ensure personal information is handled in a manner consistent with applicable privacy law.
Retention
Information stored locally in the current app generally remains on your device until you edit, delete, or remove it, or until the app is removed from the device. Support communications and billing records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for support, dispute resolution, tax, accounting, compliance, and record-keeping purposes.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organisational measures appropriate to the nature of the information we handle. No method of storage, transmission, or security control is guaranteed to be completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
Children
Preset. is intended for general audiences and business or productivity use. It is not directed to young children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through the website. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will investigate and take appropriate steps.
Your choices and rights
You can edit or delete locally stored template content directly within the app. If you have sent us support emails or other personal information, you can request access, correction, or deletion by contacting us. We may need to keep certain records where required for legal, security, accounting, or legitimate business reasons. Depending on where you live, you may also have additional privacy rights under applicable law.
Depending on the laws that apply where you live, those rights may include access, correction, deletion, objection, restriction, portability, withdrawal of consent, appeal, or the right to complain to a regulator. We will handle qualifying requests in accordance with applicable law.
Third-party services
If you purchase through Apple or interact with third-party services such as Apple, email providers, or hosting providers, those parties may process information under their own privacy policies and terms. We encourage you to review their policies as well.
Additional regional disclosures
If we offer Preset. to people in jurisdictions with additional privacy disclosure or consumer data rights requirements, we may provide supplemental notices for those regions. If we are required to appoint an EU or UK representative or provide region-specific contact details under applicable privacy law, those details will be added to this policy or otherwise made available before or when the relevant processing starts.
Policy changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the service, legal requirements, or our data practices. We will post the revised version on this page and update the date above. If a change materially affects how personal information is handled, we may also take additional steps to notify users when required.
Contact and complaints
If you have privacy questions, requests, or complaints, please contact us first so we can try to resolve the issue. If you are in Australia and you are not satisfied with our response, you may also have the right to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. If you live elsewhere, you may also have the right to complain to a local data protection or privacy regulator where applicable.
